Think about devoting a lot of time, energy, and effort to something you gain
no result or reward from, and can get incredibly frustrated with if people start
dying. Be very considerate of the quest team leaders, be patient, be obedient.
We want you to get your quest item, really we do! We don’t want anyone to die
and add to the stress level. The quest will be there if you are patient, and the
more work YOU do to get other people interested in going, the faster and better
the quest will be done. POST POST POST, can’t stress it enough. Learn who the
quest leaders are and use them. Better yet, go with some friends and actually
enjoy how dangerous these things can actually be. Doing quests half-blind is
part of the fun of AC.
3. What about twinking or Powerleveling?
Powerleveling from a mage is an intense experience that takes
a tremendous amount of time and energy, for no reward and losing out on the cost
of comps and mana stones and experience he could have been earning elsewhere. It
is great fun for the leveled and not for the leveler.
No one should have their first character powerleveled…in doing so you miss
all the play experience and MISTAKES you will make and knowledge you will build.
EARN your first levels, you will appreciate them all the more.
IF you want a second or third character
leveled up, ask a mage friend or BARGAIN for services. You will have
to PAY for someone else’s time. Novel idea, yesJ? Motes, shards, D-notes, whatever they
will take…you may have to swear to them for the duration of the leveling so they
gain some XP during this process.
YES, there are master powerlevelers out there. DON’T think you can be one of
them. Those people are masters who have played the game in and out and up and
down and left, right and sideways. They have the gear, they have the contacts,
they have twinkage and uber l33tn3ss and they have, most importantly, the TIME.
They get good, good friends to help them out and they have NO LIFE while they
level up. They have already done all the stuff you need yet to do, and don’t
want to go through it all again.
Could we level someone? Yes. CAN we? Your
patron may help you…then again, he may know how unfun such a job is, especially
the 20th time, and not want to do it
either. It’s a fact of life and no slam on you...people want to have fun too,
and leveling someone else up is not fun.
4a.) do you have any motes?
--
As a rule of thumb, we do not want to donate more then 1/2
motes from the family pool to a character's first Atlan.
We do provide free alchemy mixing services
for your ingot and usually buffs to stamp it, and usually can scare
up a Crater ride. The more of this you can arrange on your own the
better for you, however. If you do get a lower quality ingot, we can
usually get enough motes to replace it free of charge.
4) Do you have shards? Shards are the $50 bills of the game, the
standard medium of exchange. They are extremely valuable and
difficult to get. Do not ask for shards. If the shards are for a
suit of GSA, then talk to your patron about how you can obtain.
4B.) do you have any Sturdy Iron Keys?
Again, as a trade item,
SIK’s are the $40 bills of the server and it’s best
to earn them and not expect to get showered with $40 bills.
6) will you give me phat l3wt? Or any other item you want. We hates
this question. There is a protocol here. First, ask your patron for gear, AFTER you have
attempted to round it up yourself.
7) I need a ride to Teth!
or anywhere
else. Learn how to
get there on your own, for when you really need to get there.
8) I have a question for you. ask your patron or use
the messageboard.
9) Can you help me with X Quest? There are
devoted quest people on the msg board, we run most of the major quests at least
twice a month. Talk to the quest team leaders, and POST your request.
10) I need help getting my body. Follow the chain of command
up for assistance and we have a rescue team -- USE THEM!
11.) Someone is talking crap about the monarchy and you.
Ahem, this will get one of our attention real fast and is actually one
of the best reasons to talk to him. Aelryinth values the reputation a LOT, and goes to considerable length to keep the negative spam and
thieves to a minimum. He gets crap talked at him all the time and can deal with
it…he also has to deal with people who cuss out his monarchy as a whole, thieves
and others who are not wanted in our family but sneak in, PK conduct, and so
on.
12.) If you see a thief in the family notify
Council immediately, and identify his patron so he can be cut.
So email council@thesteel.org.
13.) So and so PK is in town here, come kill
him! Heh, this is also appreciated when Aelryinth is red, nothing like having
hundreds of scouts in the game to hunt a particularly disliked individual down.
Don’t be obtuse about it, certainly don’t warn the PK you reported him. If there
are Aelryinth PK’s on such as Rennyn or Ministry let them know
directly.
