With a flash...
The wrenching portal
drops you breathless and pale to the sands of Dereth. Immediately you notice the
strange color of the skes, the sharp tang to the air, and a tingle in your
blood and a sparkly glow in your hands that was not there before - MAGIC!
Looking around you see another person. Your insight is sharper, clearer
then you ever imagined. Despite the lack of colors, flag or insignia, you
can read that this Aluvian is extremely capable, far more so then
you...his equipment fairly gleams with power, his face is weathered by
combat and toil. And you can see that he belongs to an Allegiance, a
gathering of like-minded souls.
He stares at you, then says: Greetings young one, I
believe you are new to Dereth. I welcome you to our circle. You
will find many friends among us. There is safety in numbers. We
will provide training, and knowledge in this new and
strange world. Go forward and ask questions.
The Aluvian is joined by a Gharu'ndim, the stoic desert dwelling people.
You ID him and notice that his monarch is different that the first person you just met. You think this family must be far more egalitarian then at home. You
cautiously make your way forwards.
The Gharu'ndim, you believe he is a powerful mage, but it is
difficult to tell.
He says almost at a whisper, Welcome Sir, I serve the family. We all seek knowledge, please continue to walk forward, perhaps later
I will tell you poems and tales of our journeys.
Shortly an Sho joins you. He is dressed quite unusual, with an
usual set of equipment, weapons and bright armor. He bows.
"Another newcomer to Dereth," the forest-eyed, scar-bearded,
wise-browed Sho smiles and says "Welcome".
Their eyes turn on you, and you are uncomfortable as you realize that they
can see at least as well as you, and so assess your skills in relation to
their own.
As you look at the adventurers surronding you, you notice that although they serve differnent monarchs, they seem tightly knit. As if he noticed your question, the Aluvian says, "We are all part of the same family. We serve different lords, but we serve each other before all."
"I am looking for a family to belong to," you ask, and it is the first of many
questions to follow...
