FAMILY CONTRACT
Created 12/1999 Updated 12/20/2001
Purpose
This is a code of conduct contract to protect the members of
the family and to acquaint you with our ways in the world of
Dereth. Also refer to the "The Steel Way".
General Conduct
We ask that all members of the family
are fair and honest with others. If a fellow adventurer dies and doesn't get
back to his corpse, please loot his possessions and give them back to him. This
creates a good name for the guild and will encourage us to grow and
prosper. Lying/Cheating/Stealing or dishonorable conduct will be dealt
with strongly, with punishment up to and including removal from the
guild.
All family members are required to do-their-best when a
request is made of them. If you are at our home and a fellow family
member requests a strength buff or help muling, then you are obligated to help
them. All family members are required to have at least one mule at our
home.
Any items that you find that are not useable by
yourself, we ask that you pass these up to the family member responsible for
that type of item.
It is very important to be contributing to the family. Those that actively
involve themselves in family events and duties will be recognized for
their accomplishments and loyalty.
All that we ask in return is that any
unusual item you find is signed by yourself including the family name. This
will spread the word of our guild and make us more famous in the world of
Dereth. and that you keep the family tree up to date and check the page
daily for news and events.
Please remember, if you have a
problem/concern or need an item to contact your patron. If you patron is not
around please follow the chain of command. Do not skip to the monarch. Please use /tell rather than /m or /p when chatting with the monarch. He (uh, I guess that's me) likes talking with you but the allegiance chat system sucks rocks and /tell is infinitely easier for him.
Chain of command
The chain of command is yourself, friends, fellows, patron, patron's other
vassals, patron's patron, family officers, family head, family leadership.
Patronage
We want those who are interested in acquistation or pursuit of knowledge. We
take those who offer themselves with honor and pride. We will remove
those who grovel or make promises they cannot keep. We will always keep a
keen eye out for potential new members, not just for ourselves but also for
other members. We highly advise all potential patrons to only
recruit members who have achieved level 10 or higher into the family.
Each patron is to become self sufficient in
running his vassals, the family is there to help but we expect our
patrons to not constantly ask for hand outs from the guild. If you are having
trouble finding something to keep your vassals happy you may ask one of the
officers and they will try to find you something. Each patron is required to
bring a mule to their home base for storing of items to give to their vassals,
or to recruiter more vassals. This also eases the communication and
exchange of items between people. Nothing like knowing you will always
have muling help a tell away. If you are NOT self-sufficient please
contribute in some other way of significance... ie if you need money all the
time, contribute lots of motes or shards to the general fund.
Each patron in the family is encourged to arrange direct
vassals mules for ranking. If rank is not an issue, please assign
mules to build a mule tree for maximum efficienty. Those with
leaderhsip trained should be given preference for using skill points in
doing this.
If, at some point, a vassal feel that his
patron (or patron's patron) is limiting them in some fashion, and the problem
cannot be resolved through discussion with the structure of patronage, then
he/she may petition for a reassignment within the family. In most
cases we will move the vassal to a more suitable patron who can provide more
for the vassal.
Being Held Accountable
If a member of the family brings dishonor to our name, and his patron is unwilling to take action, a vote of
the high council can force his removal. Failure of the patron of the
disgracer to remove his vassal from their service can result in the patron's
removal. This should never come to a vote, but if it does, the vote is
enforceable. do NOT take this vote lightly, this is how familys fall
apart.
If the intergrity of a member of the founders or leadership is called into question by 3 or more
core leadership members, a vote of confidence will be called for. If more than
three quarters of the core leadership give a "no confidence" vote for the member in
question, he shall be removed from his position, or the family entirely, at
the core leadership's discretion.
Conclusion
By becoming a member of the family you are accepting this contract.
If someone gets booted or requests to be released, any vassals shall be offered
the chance to remain under another member, but the offending party shall be
released regardless. These by-laws and
covenants can be changed at any time by the 2/3 vote of the leadership. We reserves the right to change any and all terms laid out in this
agreement at any time.
