Who is this StarGrove?

The allegiance system in Asheron’s call is truly unique. It allows people to set up monarchies to accomplish goals, adventure with reliable (honest) people, and generally assist each other with items, corpse recovery, quests, and the like.

Like the feudal system of old, nobles swore allegiance to the Monarch in return for land and title. In return, they pledged their military support. This led the feudal system of Nobles, Knights, Squires, and Men-at-Arms. All this rested on the peasant, which worked the Land and provided the essential monetary support. Generally, the serf class in the feudal society was fairly well off. They (generally) were not abused, starved, or mistreated. They had certain rights, (compared to a slave) and enjoyed the protection of the Lord during time of war or conflict. Although their life was hard and sometimes not very rewarding, it was better than dying on some distant battlefield.

EXPECTATIONS

Our clan follows a true feudal system, in which the craftsman, mules, vassals and guards of the Lord maintained a home base.  Our monarchy is part of a bigger family known as TheSteel. We have a Family Contract, URL http://www.thesteel.org/about/default.asp?page=contract.asp. The main website is at http://www.thesteel.org -- a messageboard, online calendar, xpchain information is located there. If you are a current member and not registered on the website, I highly recommend you click on the join button.

Join/Register TheSteel.

Vassals are expected to dedicate their lives to the service of their family/patron. This relationship between patron & vassals were based on this reciprocity of services and rewards, and is emotionally very strong. It is not uncommon for the servitors and followers of a Lord to join him in ritual combat or death (from the tou-tou lighthouse).

Trust is my one and only expectation, because when it comes down to it that's all we have.

NEW MEMBERS

As each new member is added to our clan, we will give you an 'emblems' called a "mon" or welcome parchment to you. Consider this a sacred document. You are required to be able to sustain yourself.  I am your friend, your teacher and a scholar, not your father.  And I encourage you to take on vassals when you reach a level that you can sustain yourself and them.

Each person is expected to follow the virtuous examples of the ancient sages & monks.  The focus is the same as the ancient monks -- adventuring, seeking knowledge and passing on what we've learned to others.  But this teachings are not easy.  Patience and time is required.    We require that you closely follow these rules of conduct and understand our lore.  Our basic philosophy virtues are trust, respect, benevolence, propriety, righteousness, fidelity, wisdom and above all absolute loyalty

If you are interested in joining our family, we are for the most part adventures, we often prefer to solo - conversations are at times lacking, but sometimes we do enjoy a nice warm fire and stories.  Each Family in our allegiance has certain attributes and different types of atmosphere.  Our family is known as the stinging blade.  I've thought about other names including rising phoenix, the knights and several others -- but nothing solid.  Perhaps I'll change our family name to something that matches our lore.  For the most part, most of our family is Mages.

FAMILY

Above all, family comes first. Directly linked to Family are Honor, Trust, and Friendship.

When you uphold Honor, you gain Trust. When you remain Trustworthy, you make Friendships. Friendships evolve into Family. (And no, I dont mean that Person A swears to Person B, but rather the friends become so close that they are considered family)

I don't tolerate kill-stealers, skimmers, thieves, you name it. Anything that could lead to dishonoring the allegiance or making someones AC experience unenjoyable is dealt with and resolved swiftly. As far as PKing goes, I haven't, and dont ever want to hear about Lords bragging, gearing, gemming (unless justified), bad-mouthing, cussing, or making a fool out of themselves and our allegiance.

A high level of TRUST, and thus RESPECT, maturity, honesty and intelligence is required.  I have no qualms about asking a vassal to leave because they are constantly pestering me for loot or can you powerleveling inquries. You must be able to operate on your own. We do get together for rescues, hunting parties and large quests.  We also use email and a message board in order to communication and spread knowledge/information.

If at any time you need to contact the family council or leadership, please use these email addresses:
council@thesteel.org or monarch@thesteel.org.

The Monarch’s job is difficult at best. Usually these are people who have devoted a significant portion of their free time to handle the duties and associated jobs of running a monarchy. They set the tone of the monarchy, determine general rules of decorum, and handle any issues within the group that cause friction. Most monarchs provide support in a number of other ways such as Internet websites, real life assistance (for in game issues), and ensure functions supported by the monarchy run smoothly. The monarch is more than just a figurehead. They determine the path and future for the monarchy.

Here's is a list of both patron and monarch responsibilities

The Monarch is the person who manages the Allegiance: image of the group, setting processes/recommendations, calling and
facilitating meetings, handling or assigning administrative details,
orchestrating Allegiance activities, and overseeing preparations for reports
and presentations. The Monarch should have a strong interest in
solving the problems, and be reasonably good at working with individuals
and groups. Ultimately it is the leader's responsibility to create and
maintain channels that enable Allegiance members to do their work.

Often, Monarchs are supervisors or managers in the real world.
Their closeness to these process means they will be better able to guide, communicate
and resolve conflicts with ease. It also means they must take extra precautions to avoid
dominating the group during meetings. The leader leaves rank outside
the meeting room, facilitating discussions and only occasionally
actively participating in the content.

Effective leaders share their responsibilities with other Allegiance
members, and give Allegiance members a chance try new skills on their own.
This often includes working with the Allegiance so that Allegiance members learn
to set meeting agendas and facilitate Allegiance meetings, prepare
presentations and reports, etc.

Other Responsibilities of the Monarch

The Monarch...

--Is the contact point for communication between the Allegiance and the rest
of the world, including the group quests, trading, crafting group and meetings.

--Is responsible for setting the group image. Actions that our followers take reflect directly upon the monarch. This includes removal of bad blood and recuitment of other leaders.

--Is the official keeper of the Allegiance records, including copies of
correspondence; records of meetings and presentations; meeting minutes
and agendas; and charts, graphs, and other data related to the
project. Others involved may also keep their own
records, but the Monarch is responsible for making sure the
all is documented.

--Is a full-fledged Allegiance member. As such, the Monarch's duties
also include attending meetings, carrying out assignments between
meetings, and generally sharing in the Allegiance's work. The only
exception, as described previously, is that the Monarch may want
to restrain his or her participation in discussions so that other Allegiance
members may be more active.

--Retains authority as a manager or supervisor. The monarch can
immediately implement changes recommended by the Allegiance that are within
the bounds of his or her authority. Changes beyond these bounds must
be referred to the sponsor or other appropriate level of management whether that be council or patron.

--Is responsible for helping the Allegiance resolve its problems. Allegiance
leaders often need to remember that most problems are caused by faulty
processes and systems, not by individuals. Allegiance problems are usually
not solved by blaming someone, but by finding and improving the
inadequate process or system.

WHERE DO I MULE/WHERE IS HOME/DO YOU POWERLEVEL?

We have a base of operation.  Over the years, we've tried a few different locations, our home is the mansion (51.4N 12.9E. fastest way to run there is via Firedew Portal is GW at 27.9N 29.5E, puts you 10 clicks out). Previous to the mansion our base of operations and the jump off point for most of our quests was circle of stones  next to the meeting hall in Bashi. This is not the place of our beginnings that we refer as star's grove which we left when Arwic was destroyed. We do support some powerleveling/twinking -- but that's entirely up to the person who is doing the powerleveling.  Most of the time it is not free.

HOW COME I'M PLEDGED TO X?

My Vassals are setup in a rank tree and seperately a XPChain.  It really doesn't matter who you are pledged to.  Our entire group acts as one big family.  We have pools of loot, gear, motes, shards, we gather and make quest items, dye robes, make HQ ingots.  No matter if you are a level5 or a level60 - everyone for the most part gets treated the same.  There is no monarch, but there is family trust and above all, respect.  So you could be pledged into our XPChain (www.thesteel.org/xpchain.asp) or  you could be pledged to a good patron who just happens to be in the rank chain.  It depends on the circumstances.

WHO IS AELRYINTH?

Aelryinth, he is my friend and our family lord.  While I am not pledged to him.  I still consider him my patron.  I trust and honor him.   If you have a problem with him or another family  member talk to me first.  And whatever you do, follow the chain of command.   If you have complaint about someone else in the allegiance then email me.  I check my email regularly. If you don't get a response then contact me in-game.  If there is a grudge or situation nad you request to be let go, I will let you go.   By breaking you show a lack of trust and respect to me.  I would rather let you go then put you in a position that shows a lack of respect and loyalty.

WHO MAKES THE LAWS

Our administration of justice is loosely based on rule-by-status meaning that, the patron is allowed to take the law into their own hands at will, if they so desired. Crimes carried extreme measures of punishment, and many criminals are removed. However, no individual can be punished unless a confession is obtained. As such, we will use many forms of torture.

The Council is there to deter power-hungry patrons. For any decisions or judgments made by your patron that you feel are wrong.  You may petition the monarch, then the council.  The high council is the official governing body of the The Steel, consisting of our Lord Aelryinth and his councilors. He is our the chief administrator, and gives orders through his councilors and direct vassals.  You can contact this body via email to council@thesteel.org.

CURRENT LIEUTENANTS

I currently have several direct active vassals and a host of family members including a XP Chain.  I'm going to talk briefly about my lieutenants. Each of these Lieutenants have a clan under them. This clan reports to him first. (chain of command). If you have a clan under you. please let me know.

Death Rattle aka Attitabal is the most loyal vassal a patron could have.  He has been with me since the beginning of time.  He has survived all the ups and downs, all the changes.  He's even survived me.  His number one priority is his vassals.  He'll give them whatever he can, he'll spend as much time as he can, he'll camp the goelms for the motes over and over.  He finally rerolled to a 2nd generation sword template.   Under him is Amber Voss and a few others that I have to write up about.

Meannoto aka "gimp four schooler who begining to kick ass" -- level126 mage.  Meannoto and his entire family (3 generations) have been with me for more than a year now. He is a very stable and honest patron.   WOW!

Isuldor -- him and his wife Morgana are our British representatives.  Both are very proper and love to play AC.  Morgana is level80+ archer.  And Isuldor is a Mage.

Sabbath/Warning -- Sabbath has been around for awhile.  Level26+ gimp mage and UA character.   let's see.  Oh I don't get his style of music he listens too.

Silent Mage/Baisya -- Silent mage provides one of the most valuable resources for our monarchy. When he's not questing or collecting. He's the buff bots (two of them) at the mansion. When you see him hunting say thank you!

Magik Brute -- Brute has been with us for quite a while. He has one of everything - including characters. He is one our main quest masters. He is currently 0 for 1 on soloing the keep.

Keolaha is a re-roll for Skizm.  Using a template that kicks some ass.  He's a Staffer.  He and his hunting parter D'nia make an interesting team.  I dont' know who dies more. I get a kick out of them when I hunt with them.

Og Kymil & Og Daemon -- as their names say. Og Mages.  Both are level70.

Shoya -- one of the highest level archers on the world

Photius -- I will never forgot the calm and collective nature that Photius, Opensore and Chiun Too bring with them. I look to Photius as a sage or wizard to provide guideness and enlightenment.

few others to mention briefly: Tarpon, Minyi, krylor, jak of all, Dark Crusader, Warp, Len the Great

Who am I missing.. Previous vassals/Friends:

Echylod -- brought a unique set of new clan mates

Chrysophylax Dives -- Our financial expert

Ebon Seal -- almost level70 2school Swordman

Brandish -- Brandish is a clan all to himself. I don't know who gives who more gray hair me or him.

Su-Zhen was one of the first Og Mages on the server.  We've been having fun camping olthoi and running the Aerfalle quest. Su likes loot,  although I do wonder were it all goes.

Og Angel -- Mages Rule!

Death Nethson has returned.  This time as a archer.

Jbomb I wish was on more.  He's a Life/War Mage, that I really havn't been able to hunt with.  I knew him from the days of Arwic when I was level15.  Retired

Teck,   is level60 pure Og-Mage. He also has a melee'er that camps the chorizite dungeon. He has some other characters that I gotta see what he can do.  I havn't seen him on recently.

Spinebreaker -- level38  Staff/Life Spec template.  Retired (again).

Blade of Shadows -- Level102 Swordman. For awhile there I thought Blade would pass me in levels.   Retired.

Scaramonger a level45 Battle Mage recently graduated. Retired

El Said & Bobo  recently joined us.   Left for Rage (groan)

Circ the Red was a level50ish UA/3 schooler (Watch out, she's a real women). We miss her along with old timers: Penthus, El'Ebon and Tollen.  Retired

Gary England -- make sure you meet up with us in AC2.

Mopi -- it was fun while you were with us.

Gldball -- Previous Manager of XPChain.  Retired

Lee-Ping Justice -- i don't know what happened to you.

Rennyn aka Runemaster aka Elaith -- I swear which each new character you get more powerful.  PK's beware for Elaith is near.

Jobu/Ministry -- another kick ass PK'er and former vassal.  God damn both of you kick ass.  Retired

Plus is another old-timer and been with me through thick & thin.   Plus is a based off an old UA Template.  Retired.

Su Zen and Chung-Wen joined us in March of 2001.  Both are gun-ho
Og Mages.  They love quests, especially island questing. School has taken priority.  So their in-game time is very limited.  I have to thank both of them for level'ing up my alchemist.

Shock Mage (aka Alastor who is or was a good friend) -- Now he is known as Shock Mage.  Sometimes I wonder about him, but when he has his mind set, he's an awesome battle mage. Perhaps one day, he'll figure out what he wants and will go after it.  May you forever be TheSteel.  Retired.

DoG-Ma aka Shocked  -- has come a long way.  I believe this is his 5th reroll.  And I think he selected a BM mage template.  Watch for him, because he's moving up quickly.  Perhaps he will return.

Gotmilk aka GotBallz use to be of the funnest vassals I had.  He, Runemaster, Jobu and me had the best of laughs and the funnest of times.  He doesn't play much anymore. Real-life stuff takes up most of his time.  He rerolled from Gotmilk into GotBallz and he's been playing GotBallz since.  He's a level43 Staffer and just picked up creature magic. Real-life events take up most of his time now days. Retired

Sauldarin aka Androth -- Both him and his girlfriend play AC. It's a most interesting relationship. I must say something about him here.  But i need some information.

Nicola Telsa is a Life/War Mage with several other characters include a blademaster and dagger.  He didn't have item magic until level80  I don't know how he did it..  He's usually hunting pumbrises or camping on one of the islands.  I need to call him and his main vassal the loot-oh-magic, because they always had the best of luck with loot.  Nicola's main mover and doer is Shadow Menace, he was known as Bunny Killer who was a 4school mage, but I think a level Og Mage fits him much better.  Shadow has more energy than most people. Sometimes I can see the exessive energy fizziling around him.  He's usually on Aerthinthe Island.  Between Nicola, Shadow Menace, Osai and Fiend (both vassals of Shadow Menace), they pack a powerful punch.  Events lead to them leaving me.  I will really miss them.

Other friends include  Semi, Ur, John Doh, Tex, Sand (you old timer are still around),  Briggz (aka Briggs), Thase Skotoso, Haste, Andro (where are you now?), Czarina, and gosh.. there are others.
