StarGrove's Lore
My father was a man who held himself to the harsh code of Bushido or the way of
the sword. He was entrusted by Asherons with the gravest of
responsibilities, that of official executioner. His flashing blade brought swift
release to those ordered to commit Seppuku, ritual suicide - be they man, woman,
or even child.
He was falsely accused of treason stripped of his position and my mother, his
wife murdered by assassins.
He was a father who gave his infant son a terrible choice between a
beautiful red ball and a sword. To choose the ball meant to join his mother in the
Void, to choose the sword meant that his son would be a Ronin, a samurai
warrior without a master.
After my mother's death my father suffered the indignity of dying while being held prisoner by a neighbouring lord. Our family fortunes quickly declined. I was adopted by my father's uncle, my great uncle.
My Uncle taught me the values of archery and unarmed combat. But all was not peaceful and quite, soon a war broke out. My close friends and I fled, taking a portal that appeared out of no where. We were transported to a foreign land.
I became a Samurai adventurer and took an old ancient non-sire name as my own -- StarGrove. Our first days were hard and required much endurance and fortude.
After spending time with some monks in the high northern mountain ranges, they encouraged me to learn Item Magic
mastery & healing. Later I was given the gift of Life Magic.
Despite this seemingly poor beginning, I have become a master in the way of the sword, crossbow, unarmed combat and
magic. The Sword being my greatest weapon for it is centered around a
set of teachings, principles, customs and techniques. I am in the Shin-kage-ryuu
or New Shadow Sword school.
I was the first to equip our clan with Gharu & Aluvian arquebuses.
And was one of the first to win a victory and to claim the Sword of Lost Hope with all enchanments. I am the heir to a proud tradition. It is my intention to lead this clan to victory and paved the way to prominence. Whatever
sacrifices that are necessary, I will do.
I continue to seek knowledge and enlightenment. My recent travels have gained new knowledge, friends and equipment. Over the years I have wanted to give more to my vassals, friends and comrades. Soon I should be able to do just that.
I roam the world always looking for those that are "roonin" or do not have a patron,
for I am a teacher and a scholar, willing to teach you what I know.
Soon we will be leaving this place that we call home. We look forward to the challenges and mystery that Asheron brings up.
Sun Tzu in the The Art of War says
'Thus one advances without seeking glory, retreats without avoiding blame,
only protecting the people to the benefit of the ruler as well, thus rendering valuable service to the country.'
