Step 0: Preparation
Wear every protection you can during the fort-to-fort runs, as there is some REALLY nasty stuff running around in the Dires these days.
Magic Resist helps greatly during the Tumerok fights as they LOVE to cast at you with level 2 and 3 spells.
Step 1: Getting the Keys
(Note: This step can be skipped if you have a 160+ lockpick AND can cast Lockpick Mastery IV and Weaken Lock IV)
Start off in Dryreach. Then follow the chart below to recover each of the keys you will need. Note: each key is used on the door to the location of the next key.

Step 2: The (HUGE) Tumerok Fortress
Now that you have all the keys, you will want to head over to The Tumerok Fortress located at 12.4n 73.7w. This place is HUGE with all sorts of nasties inside. You will want to open the door and RUN (don't walk) to the tower with the dungeon portal. Get up to the top of the tower and inside the portal as fast as you can. Be careful, if someone just ran up there before you the tower entrance may be blocked by monsters.
Step 3: Getting to the Overlord
Once in the Overlord's dungeon, you will need to head deep into the depths and find a room with a crystal (similar to a lifestone) on the wall. Behind the crystal the wall is actually a secret passage. Walk through the wall, down the ramp. Down here you will face several Virindi, Tumeroks, and the Tumerok Overlord. Be careful, as the electricity in the room will cause damage to you!!
When you kill the Overlord, you will find the sword on his corpse. You will also (as of the January 2001 patch) get a key off him that open's a chest. The chest has a timer of one week, and has some of the best loot in the game inside!
